Subscription cleanup
How to cancel unused AI subscriptions
Unused AI subscriptions are easy to miss because many start as experiments. A team tests a tool for one project, keeps the plan active, and forgets about it until the next billing cycle. A simple cleanup routine can save real money.
Find every subscription
- Search card statements for AI, SaaS, app, and vendor names.
- Check app stores, PayPal, Stripe receipts, and team expense tools.
- Ask team members which AI tools they bought directly.
- Look for annual plans that renew quietly.
Decide what to keep
Keep tools that are used weekly, support a clear workflow, or replace work that would cost more time. Cancel tools that are only interesting, duplicated by another subscription, or used by one person once a month.
Before canceling
- Export important files, prompts, images, chats, or templates.
- Check whether cancellation removes access immediately or at renewal.
- Record the cancellation date and confirmation email.
Monthly cleanup habit
Review AI subscriptions on the same day each month. Use an AI subscription tracker and compare the cleaned-up total with the monthly calculator.
